Who Invented the First Compact Tractor?
There is no clear inventor of the first compact tractor. However, John Deere entered the market in 1976 in a joint venture with Yanmar and Kubota, had been shipping their first compact diesel-powered tractors to the United States since 1972.
The early compact tractors were mainly two-wheel drive models with a "two large, two small" configuration.
The first successful American tractor was built by Charles W. Hart and Charles H. Parr in 1903, and the first commercially successful light-weight petrol-powered general purpose tractor was built by Dan Albone, a British inventor in 1901.
