Not lubricating a PTO (Power Take-Off) shaft regularly can lead to several consequences.

Increased Friction and Wear:  Without proper lubrication, the friction between the telescoping tubes and shield bearings increases, leading to excessive wear and tear. This can cause damage to the PTO yoke ears, sides, telescope tubes, cross-bearing arms, joints, and yokes.

Overheating and Damage:  The lack of lubrication causes increased friction and heat buildup, which can weaken the PTO shaft and lead to structural damage.  Constant compression of the shaft for extended periods without lubrication can also damage the connections on the PTO, connecting shafts, implement, tractor, or bearings.

Vibration and Shaft Failure:  Insufficient lubrication can cause the PTO shaft to bounce around due to loose bearings in the housing.  This vibration can lead to the locking sleeve on the shaft end vibrating loose, causing the shaft to eventually fall off.

Safety Hazards:  A damaged or loose PTO shaft can pose serious safety risks, as it can become detached from the tractor or implement during operation.

Reduced Efficiency and Performance:  Inadequate lubrication can lead to increased power losses, reduced efficiency, and decreased performance of the PTO system.  To prevent these issues, it is recommended to grease the PTO shaft at least every 8 hours of operation.

Using the right lubricant and adhering to a regular lubrication schedule is crucial for maintaining the integrity and longevity of the PTO shaft.
